Air cooling by a mining surface cooler with water vapour condensation

Authors: K.. Filek, K. Holesz, B. Nowak, J. Roszkowski

Space-time changes in air temperature and its humidity, and in temperatures of a heat exchanger and of water cooling a mining counter-current surface cooler were taken into consideration. Simultaneously condensation of water vapour contained in the air being cooled was taken into account. A cooler was treated as an element with parameters distributed along an axe parallel to air flow (a space one-dimensional case). Division into two.zones was proposed: I - a zone of cooling without water vapour condensation and II - a zone of cooling with condensation, for which mathematical specifications are different. Specification for zone I was done on the basis of (Filek et al., 1998 a) and for zone II on the basis of balances of enthalpy of the three media taking part in heat exchange. Equations of mathematical model for air cooling by means of such a cooler were derived. Also numerical solution to the example was presented in this paper.
