The Gas Mixing Process in Underground Gas Storages – The “Wierzchowice” UGS Case

Authors: J. Blicharski, C. Rybicki

This paper presents a problem of gas – gas mixing process in underground gas storages. Presented
analytical model of mass transport for radial geometry of fl ow has been applied for the well zones of
UGS Wierzchowice. The molecular diffusion coeffi cients and the dispersivities for individual wells were
determined. Correlating results of nitrogen concentrations in withdrawn gas for initial fi ve operating
cycles has been obtained. On this basis a prognostic calculations for succeeding two cycles were made
and a good agreement with measured data was achieved.
