Water inflow prognosis for the gas wells

Water infl ow to exploratory and production wells is a common phenomena. It can take place already during the process of gas reservoirs testing or in the later stage of gas production. Often it is observed that after some time of a well production, water infl ow suddenly increases. Water infl ow to the production gas well may cause unprofi table occurrences and is the basic factor which infl uences the life of the well. At the signifi cant water infl ow wells are being closed because of the economic reason. Early water infl ow might be caused by unsuitable location of the well perforation in relation to gas-water contact. In presented paper the authors undertook attempt to estimate the magnitude of water infl ow to producing gas wells on the basis of relative permeability laboratory measurements for reservoir rocks from the Carpathian Foredeep region of Poland. Conducted analysis of the two phase water-gas fl ow in Miocene rocks of Carpathian Foredeep show signifi cant infl uence of water saturation on the water concentration in fl owing gas and consequently on the economic aspect of production. This is a consequence of high residual water saturation of these rocks, so that even small increase of water saturation causes high water concentration in produced gas.
