Sorption of nitrogen and carbon dioxide on a number of samples of hard coal having differenty carbon content

Authors: M. Żyła, J. Cygankiewicz, A. Dudzińska

Specific area values determined for 14 samples of hard coal from Polish mines are clearly different for samples characterized by different metamorphism degree.

Sorption of carbon dioxide performed at room temperature is almost ten times greater than nitrogen sorption carried out at temperature of liquid nitrogen (77 .5K).

Quantities of nitrogen sorbed are relatively low and still are different for different carbon and volatile matter contents of samples.

Similar changes are observed in the case of sorption of carbon dioxide at room temperature.
