Method of evaluation of mining tremors prediction on the basis of the analysis of asymmetry of seismoacoustic signals emission

Authors: Cianciara, A. ; Cianciara, B.

The paper is devoted to the evaluation of rock mass tremor prediction on the basis of the analysis of seismoacoustic emissions from rock masses.

A concept of such an assessment, accounting for seismoacoustic signals asymmetry is presented.

A parameter describing centre of amplitude spectra from signals envelopes was introduced as a measure of asymmetry.

Rock bursts are known to be preceded by increasing stress values, which in turn triggers out the compaction and then dilatancy processes in the rock mass.

This results in a change of physical parameters of the rock medium, e.g. attenuation of elastic vibrations.

At the compaction stage the attenuation is weaker, whereas at the stage of dilatancy it increases.

With a well estimated asymmetry estimator it is possible to map trends of these processes in periods preceding the occurrence of rock bursts.

This should be referred to a definite rock mass area surrounding the site where emission has been registered.

The obtained results may be used for assessing the tremor prediction monitoring methods.
