Development of a mathematical model for injecting nitrogen to inerties the goaf a working panel in coal mines

Author: D. C. Panigrahi

The paper presents the development of a mathematical model to predict the oxygen concentration in goaf of working panels in coal mines with nitrogen infusion to prevent the occurrence of fire.

Effect of a few controllable parameters, viz. nitrogen plant capacity, air leakage into the goaf and level of impurity in the generated nitrogen; on oxygen concentration in the goaf have also been studied and presented in the paper.

The model is simple and can be applied with ease white deciding the nitrogen infusion system in coal mines.
