Impact of the mounting of tangential rotary tools on their proper operation

Authors: K. Kotwica, M. Maziarz

The paper presents the application of rotary tangential tools used to mine hard rocks. Dry friction-related problems occurring when the tools are mounted in the standard slide bearing holders were described. The paper includes the presentation of some directions towards the possible replacement of dry friction by other friction types, which seem to be more favourable for the tool rotation in the holder. There are also the suggestions for the new constructional solutions of the holders taking into account the changes described above. The trials carried out on a laboratory stand were aimed to assess the wear and number of rotations of tangential rotary tools of the RM 8 system mounted both in the standard holders and new constructional solutions. The results are presented and compared.
