Rock and gas outbursts

Authors: M. Gawor, J. Litwiniszyn, J. Rysz, A. Z. Smolarski

This paper presents the studies and research into rock and gas outbursts phenomena.

A continuous medium in which rarefaction shock waves can propagate is taken to be the model of such a rock-gas medium.

The results of laboratory research into "mini-outbursts' of coal briquettes saturated with CO sub 2, N sub 2, He are presented.

These provide valuable information on time-space correlations between certain parameters, such as pressure, temperature, deformations - those that characterise the medium during outburst initiation and reveal the emerging disc structure of the medium.
