Application of magnetic Barkhausen noise measurements to flow detection in ferromagnetic elements used used in vertical transport system

Author: J. Kwaśniewski

The paper discusses the Barkhausen noise measurements as a potential tool for inspection of brake discs in hoists and elevators and other solid ferromagnetic elements.

Defects arising from exploitation, such as microcracks, have a strong impact on transport safety.

Digital method of pulse counting as well as the statistic analysis of Barkhausen noise may be used for inspection, at the same time providing the required safety features.
